Labour are removing Winter Fuel Payments from pensioners in our constituency

21,898 pensioners will loose winter fuel payments in Glastonbury and Somerton

Labour just voted to take away up to £300 in Winter Fuel Payments for 21,898 pensioners in our constituency.

Somerset Conservatives are united in our opposition to cuts to winter fuel allowance which will force some elderly to face the dreadful choice between heating and eating.

Government watchdog, The Social Security Advisory Committee (SSAC) has criticised the decision to scrap the handout for almost 10 million households as rushed and ill-conceived. They argue it will raise less money than stated and risks plunging more pensioners into poverty.
