Conservatives call for full investigation into Glastonbury's Life Factory fiasco.
Over £2 million of taxpayers' money has been lost on the Life Factory project due to the Lib Dem led Council's failure to scrutinise it properly.
Nowhere is the failure of the Lib Dem Run Unitary Council and the Green run Town Council more apparent than in the fiasco of The Town Deal's Life Factory. According to Somerset Council's own Auditors, over £2 million of taxpayers' money has been wasted due to the failure of Somerset Council and its predecessor the Mendip District Council to give the project the scrutiny it needed.
Conservative Council Candidate for the Glastonbury by-election Lilli Osborn says -
"Despite basic things like a lack of budget monitoring or projected cash flow and undeclared vested interests in meetings. Somerset Council has continued to put good money after bad supporting this project. There needs to be a full investigation as to what went wrong and the Lib Dem administration needs to explain why they did not step in years ago. Local Contactors, who are owed thousands need to be paid."
